AFFINA employees raise funds while cooking out for the cure

May 18, 2007 - Peoria, Illinois

AFFINA’s Peoria employees went the extra mile for the annual Race for the Cure and raised more than $1,800 for the local Peoria affiliate of Susan G Komen for the Cure. On three separate days, employees supported a mid-day cookout that featured hot dogs, chips, and a time to catch up with fellow employees! Further, the Company’s executive team declared three days during the first week of May as Jeans Days for the Cure, during which Peoria employees participated in casual “jeans days” in exchange for a $1 donation. Additionally, AFFINA was the local sponsor of the toll-free Race Hotline.

“Like most of the Peoria area, our company and employees are passionate about the Race for the Cure and our local affiliate,” said Brian Dunphy, management sponsor of AFFINA’s Charitable Contributions Committee. “This was our first Cookout for the Cure and it was a huge success. Needless to say, we’ll be doing this again next year.”

“Every dollar counts in our fight against breast cancer,” said Linda Maricle, Executive Director at the Peoria Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “AFFINA’s support through the pre-race hotline and the employees raising money through special events is a testament to how many companies and individuals care deeply for our cause. Many thanks go to AFFINA for the support it has provided over the years!”
